I own both the original CD release and the remaster. I don't like the remaster, it's extremely shrill and sibilant. Am I not alone?

I've heard the remaster but not the original CD. I agree I didn't like the sound, the volume seemed 'boosted' in some places (like the introduction to Venus). This is compared to the vinyl mind.

Okay, I just got off my lazy ass and went down to my CD room to pick this up and play it, and you're right, it's a little bright. But I listened to it on my RS2i, and that might have exacerbated it. In any event, I think it sounds good a little bright. I think Verlaine's guitar is supposed to cut and be a little edgy.

The beautiful part of the remaster it that you get "Little Johnny Jewel" too - so I don't have to pull out my 7 inch and cue up the turntable to hear it. Although, having access to that song used to make you cool. Now any shlub off the street can get it.

All I've heard is the remaster, but it sounds good to me. As Priest said, I think Verlaine's guitar is supposed to be a little cutting.
