Quick and strict review of the Tascam UH-7000 as a Headphone Amp-Dac.
Its awesome.!
Its a 4 channel USB audio interface/mic pre as well as a world class Amp-Dac.
Im using it at this time and for about 4 months strictly as my USB Dac <> 17'' Apple Macbook Pro with assorted nice sets of headphones.
And did i say its awesome?
Here are a few parts for you to consider..
Burr-Brown PCM4220 ADC, PCM1795 DAC converters and thin film metal resistors, installed is a powerful TCXO clock generator with +/−1ppm precision.
It also has a very nice volume control knob which works wonderfully, and the build quality of the unit is very substantial... (no plastic).
I've previously owned the Woo Audio Fireflies and the Concero HP as well as a host of other plug in and play Dacs..
.The Tascam UR-7000 is the best sounding unit ive owned as it offers a depth of presentation and clarion resolution presented inside good headphones that i just didnt hear with the Woo or the Concero or anything else, quite honestly.
Maybe its best quality is its incredible stereo separation presented inside good headphones.
This Tascam UH-7000 unit sells for $399 and it sounds like $1500.
It really is a special gear and at a price point that makes it one that you need to investigate before you drop a whole lot of money somewhere else on something else that isn't nearly its sonic equal.
