Awesome. If the words "art-rock" don't send you running for the hills, anyway.

Bob Ludwig remasters, so it sounds great. Three CDs crammed with their best work, plus an extra DVD of their videos. All you would ever really need from the band. You forget how good they were, how unusual, you take them for granted, but damn, they were great. The box set is a real treat especially if you lived during the era when the band was active, it will really take you back. If you're a newbie, lucky you because you get to hear all this weird and wonderful left-field yet accessible pop music for the first time. "Art for everyone" as they would say.

The packaging, while unique and typically arty, bugs me, but all packaging of box sets bugs me because they won't fit on your CD rack, you have to get some empty jewel cases to put the CDs in, and stick the rest in a box somewhere to gather dust. Anyway, the booklet is very informative, lots of great photos.

It runs around $65 new, but you can get it on ebay for around $40 plus shipping like I did. Well worth it, IMO.

Thanks for the post mark. I loved Stop Making Sense , brings back a lot of memories from my younger days. I'll have to pick this one up.

the discs have been pretty much constantly on the machine for the 3 weeks i've had it.

the only thing that strikes me as odd, is that the level is hotter (dynamic compression) than the originals (cd).
