Hi all,
I am new here, have been reading this great forum for a while, really impressive knowledge base.
My current setup is Notebook USB-> ESI Waveterminal U24 -> AKG K-701. Everything seems to sound OK, but I feel I could get more from my AKGs, especially when I see how many nice things are here under discussion
My question is rather general, assuming that I have ears and understanding of music.
1) How much should I be prepared to spend for a really noticeable improvement? I want to stay with computer as source, and my budget is limited.
2) I read a lot of nice things about Waveterminal here, so I suppose it would serve well the purpose of being an interconnect between pc and external DAC?
3) I would obviously need DAC and amp. Could you recommend some combination, which would sound nice with my AKGs, and which wouldn't be relatively expensive? I would also consider buying used stuff.
