Hello all,
I'm getting back into the headphone game after a few years break of nothing but speaker listening. Anyone have recommendations for an Accuphase E-280? I have experience with Sennheiser, Audeze and Focal, cans but I'm not familiar with the headphone section of Accuphase, and what might be a good match for it's sound signature. I just ordered one and want to hit the ground running. Thanks!

I'd try to ask accuphase what the specifications for the headphone output on the front are. Power output, output impedance, whether its a separate standalone amplifier or the speaker amp going through a bunch of resistors. Usually on integrated speaker amps companies included headphone outputs are inferior in quality and power to the speaker outs on the rear, but I'm not sure what accuphase does on this particular model.

Medium sensitivity to harder to drive planar magnetics would work very well from the speaker outs on the rear with an adapter.

Thanks. The manual states to use headphones with an impedance of 8 ohms or higher. I would expect that hard to drive cans would be sub-optimal. I believe the headphone out has its own amplifier stage, but again, I would probably not consider power hungry cans anyway. After doing some research, it seems like HD600 would be a easy choice. I'm still looking into other options, possibly an HE1000se.
