Sony-Columbia got smart and released a few 2-disc movies with the extras included, so you can have your cake and eat it too. Unfortunately, the Superbit movies are not necessarily great cinema... that's the inherent limitation of releasing from one studio. This makes me wonder if the other studios are copying the high-bit-rate method when mastering their own discs. Regarding great film re-masters, the Criterion Collection comes to mind.

The knowledge of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray have had a chilling effect on my recent DVD purchases.
