my wife is shopping for a new portable cd player with fm tuner to take to europe with her.

priorities:

1) build: must be a good build and not break easily.

2) sound: good sonics, no motor noise or harshness.

3) fm tuner

she's pretty hard on her portables, so it has to be pretty solid. she will be using sony ex70 headphones, which are very revealing of noise in the signal. she prefers to keep the price under us$130.

However.....taking a hit when it comes to sound quality gives you many choices.

Personally, I'd reccomend getting her a nice Pana 570, and then getting her a SEPERATE radio - those portable radios are TINY these days.....

Try the Panasonic SL-SW869V or SL-SW899V

They have an fm-tuner and sound like panasonics.
And they are built like a tank andcan take more than just one
hit.
Price around 130$

I think CaptBubba has one of these (and somebody else has the other one

)

you're right about tiny radios, i have the sangean pll radio and it is tiny, but has a big sound. i'd let her borrow it but it would come back all beat up.

(IMHO don't look as good though, and if your wife is like all
