Well, I've been looking into cutting noise from my sound card (audigy2, will be replaced eventually, but can't afford it atm), and making it sound a bit better. Lately, however, I think I've been hearing clipping where there shouldn't be, and there's a high pitched noise that can't be heard too easily under normal circumstances, but when I turn my rega up it's noise from another component of my system. I know these are two separated issues, so we'll work on the first one first.

I can't determine if it's my source, or some setting(s) that I haven't been aware of. I usually use itunes as a player, and have been hearing some of my songs sound like crap. Rather annoying. Voices sound like they're cracking a bit when dynamics in a song are raised. Anywhere from Eric Clapton talking on his crossroads DVD to the dixie chicks. However, some songs still sound awesome. Any advice would be appreciated. I've been lurking for a while, and this is my first thread. I have a rega ear and HD650's. Cables are Audio Research (eh, I didn't pay for them, they should be good enough for now)

This happens no matter what my volume control on my sound card is set at. Possibly a hair stuck in one of the drivers? I have a hard time telling if it's one side or both.

probably.
I get zero noise from my system. Amp volume and E-MU Mixer volume on full ... no static noise.

It's not really white static, more like video card interference or something. It's at the last or next to the last pci slot, so I'm not sure what else I can do. Mebbe just get a new card.

Does the card have any connectors for internal sound sources? Maybe disabling the respective inputs fixes it.

It has them, but everything's muted but Wave/MP3.
