I don't have one of those cell phones with the goofy ring tones that play songs and stuff like that and frankly find them annoying. My phones rings,I answer it,end of story. My Mom has this ring tone that plays Rick James' "Super Freak",my lawyer's phone plays Jay-Z songs and my daughter's phone plays Kanye West songs. I just don't get it at all, what's the point. The topper is my daughter's boyfriend's phone rings and the phone says in a really mean voice "pick up the phone Motherf***er". This happens while I'm introducing him to my Chief at a small party we had.

Ringing cell phones are already rude enough, phones that play tunes or swear at you are rediculous. I'll admit that I don't like my daughter's boyfriend much(especially since he crashed my ATV)but his stupid ring tone and his casual reponse to the resulting embarrasment is what made me really dislike this kid.

Anyway, why all the stupid ring tones? How much do you hate them?

A lot of them are annoying, yeah, but it's still a relief from all those Nokias with Moonlight Sonata as their ringtone... got INCREDIBLY annoyed by those.

My phone is practically always on silent anyways, and since I usually have headphones on when I'm walking around, I don't hear too many bad ones. ^^

At least it's not like in Asia. When I visited Seoul, S Korea, quite a while back, I was amused by how everything was a song. When a truck was backing up, instead of the usual USA's Beep Beep Beep, it was a song, doorbells? A song. Some car alarms? A song. So I didn't know if I was going to get run over by a truck, have to check the door, or answer the phone. Pretty confusing at first.

My phone's on vibrate 24/7. Try it for a few months, you'll get to the point where you can hear it vibrating from three rooms away, even through the ceiling. It's also good for not looking like an idiot when it goes off in class. Not that anyone ever calls me; my phone is a waste of money.

Tubes I'm with you, I have several cell phones and none of them have I used custom ringtones. Mainly because I don't have the time to fiddle around with my phone nor do I really care about the custom ringtones. A lot of them ringtones are irritating especially if the owner of the phone lets it ring on and on and on. Even more irritating when they let it in a movie theater while they are watching a movie. I think with the younger crowd it seems like the hip thing to do when you own a cell phone is to upload it with custom ringtones that you can make on your own and trade with others (much like MP3's). They all want attention from others noticing that their ringtone is different. As for your daughter's boyfriend's ringtone, I would definitely be outraged if I also heard it. Makes me want to go over there and tune his @ss.

Tuberoller,
You know whats even more annoying?

Some moron who's selecting and checking his/her cell's ringtones one by one in small public place.

Happened to me before when the guy was on the train. i mean, how much more annoying can you be ? listening to the phone's ringtones one by one (loudly) and worst of all, the tones were the polyphonic ones (the new one that doesnt ring, but plays music like those small, crappy radio speakers)

i this guy has a new phone and probably wanna show it to the whole world, but please, give me a break...

PS: before being labelled as jealous, i do own one of those kind of phones with polyphonic tones, but i still use the "ring ring" tone.

I was so happy that my Nokia 6225 has a simple ring tone on it although for some reason it wasn't the default (of course the stupid infamous Nokia tune was). Although I think it might be amusing for a short time if I had a phone with MP3 ringtone capability, I bet it'd get real old real fast and I'd go back to a normal ringtone. Most of the time my phone is in silent mode since I don't even like hearing my own phone ring or feeling it vibrate. Every time I hear a cellphone ringer I want to beat somebody over the head, especially when its the Nokia tune or a bad MIDI rendition of a song and of coarse turned all the way up. And worst are the people who just walk around all day with the things glued to their ears oblivious to their surroundings or that use them while driving. Where I work a lot of people get a phone call while I'm dealing with them and instead of just hitting End they instead answer it which really pisses me off since it is incredibly rude. Or some businesses I walk into have employees talking on their cellphones and ignoring customers. People with cellphones seem to be pretty rude in general

Why yes, it is. It's Chiaki Kuriyama, she's also Go-Go from Kill Bill.

Ugh, I can agree with that. I was taking the red line north to Belmont, and the lady next to me decided she had to go through all of her cell phone ringers right there...
