Steely Dan's open letter to Luke Wilson (about Owen Wilson)

Wow it's, like, Steely Dan. And they, like, wrote a letter to, like Luke Wilson. But it's not, like, about him, but rather about, like Owen Wilson. And they, like, wrote some, like, smack his movies. Like, yeah.

Donald Fagen and Walter Becker are two pretty intelligent and articulate guys in their 50s ...this letter is idiotic and childish. A royal scam, obviously.

I find it a little hard to believe that they would threaten the guy ( navy seal Russian?) then allow the actual letter to be scanned and posted on the internet....unless Wilson published it.

I'm also not sure what it was that Wilson said to tick them off in the first place.

I'm not so sure although I was skeptical at first as well.

The timeline of the letter coincides with their tour at the moment. They just went through Houston last week (I worked the concert) on their way to Corpus Christi and beyond. It does seem quite immature coming from these two; however, if you felt that your material had been ripped off to the point of being insulted then you never know.

That letter is idiotic. Some writers stole the idea for the movie from Steely Dan, so, to right the situation, Steely Dan (supposedly) writes a letter bashing an actor in the movie, blaming him for what the writers did? How does that make any sense?

I don't like Steely Dan and find this "open letter" to be incredibly lame. It's obvious that they have absolutely no legal course, so instead they attempt to get some hits on their webpage.

I'm sure if they actually could sue over such ridiculous circumstances, they (or their record label) would be doing so. Instead, they're trying to actually get enough people to go to their show so it doesn't get cancelled. Furthermore, the title/name being used in the movie could be considered an homage, which is something a lot of artists consider flattery, not a ripoff.

Oh well, can't wait for their next album "Owen Steals" or whatever.

p.s. How could you address these guys and not mention their awesome work with Wes Anderson? Savagery.

Sounds like, like, Steely Dan should, like, get a life, and, like, grow up.

Joke or not, that letter was lame. Boo hoo for them

Bad movie to match their bad music.

The whole letter should be a joke. Instant karma, a Russian man who's done "unspeakable" things with "HIS BARE HANDS", requesting that Luke Wilson pressure his brother into more or less putting down his career in front of an audience, offering "some groovy new tee's and hoodies" in exchange for Owen putting himself down... it can't be serious. I hope it isn't serious. "Can't Buy A Thrill" is a really good album, and I really wouldn't like two of the guys behind "Can't Buy A Thrill" to end up being colossal idiots. That being said...

You obviously have not seen "You, Me and Dupree". I was insulted that someone thought it was okay to release that movie to the public. And I didn't even pay to see it.
