Specific DAP Recommendations

Hi! So I have owned the likes of Sony A15/A306/507, Fiio X1/X5iii, Hiby R5ii, Cayin N3, iBasso DX50/DX90/DX160/240 over the years (a particular shoutout to the A15, who met a spectacularly quick end on holiday by falling off my bed in I think... 2013 and taking concrete floor to the face) - I know the modern Android/skinned players have all the bells and whistles but I don't really care about that. Not sure about my budget yet (good second-hand deals on hetr, yes please) but here's what am ideally looking for:

* Good-to-great sound quality (that can be improved further with a dongle or full-size DAC)
* Plays ALL THE THINGS (FLAC especially)
* mSD slot for extra storage - support for 512GB and up is encouraged
* Potentially Rockbox?

I know the Sansa Clip Zip and such things exist that could fit the bill and I'm down to use a nugget if it fits all the above criteria, but I need advice bc if you factor in the discontinued stuff I have hella options. Thank you!

Can't help you. But had to laugh about the Sansa Clip. Years ago I had the OG version. Truly wish they would reintroduce it, now with BT5.4 and AptX Adaptive and/or LDAC.

Rockboxing it could be an idea. They've held their value spectacularly well honestly!

The Clip + (Clip Plus) was the one to get. The others (including the Zip) were crippled in assorted ways.
