Hello .

I want to buy Kef Q100 + Schiit dac special for pc . For games , music and movies .

So guys questions is :
1) Which Schiit Dac to buy ? Modi 2 uber or Bifrost or Fulla 2 ?
2) Do i need a AMP for speakers ? Or its need only for headphones ?
3) What about speakers ? Maybe there is much better speakers for this price +50-100$ ?
4) What about speakers Definitive technology Incline and Audioengine A2+ A5+ HD3 . Do they need DAC ? They will be worse or better if compare vs kef Q100 with dac ?
5) Any soundbar can be better then what i looking for?

Any suggestions will be useful :)

1) I would definitely go with the Modi Multibit. It sounds a lot better than the Fulla 2. (I own both.) And it's almost the same as the Bifrost Multibit, but with a different power supply and no modular upgradability.

2) Yes, you will need a speaker amp, speaker cables, etc. for those speakers, as they are passive.

3) I only recently switched from headphones to speakers. All I can say is that my active JBL LSR305 speakers sound far more realistic to me than any headphone at any price despite only costing $250 brand new from an authorized dealer on eBay.

It's also a good idea to get speaker stands (I use the Samson MS200) and eventually apply room treatments and equalization.

Endgame setup for me which still gives me goosebumps despite being more than 6 months old

But for a start i will probably go with modi and magni and will see what happen :)

Do you plan on using headphones too? If not, you can just get the Schiit SYS passive preamp for $49.

But you'll still need to get a speaker amp if you get passive speakers. If you get a power amp, you can use the SYS as its preamp to control the volume. Or if you get an integrated amp, you wouldn't need a preamp.

I see . Good to know , thanks . I won't use headphone . So if i go with active monitor without integrated amp i will buy sys . If i choose passive , magni will be my choice . Correct me if i get you wrong :)

^ Not directed toward me, but yep. I prefer active speakers as the amps are inside the cabinet already, eliminating more clutter. Sys should be your volume controller. Magni is a headphone amp, but having owned the Asgard 2 and have used it as preamp for a while, it had too much gain which causes clipping on loud music. That's why I replaced it with Saga with unity gain (aka 0db gain boost). Sys is passive so no gain boost as well.

The Magni and Magni 2 cannot be used as a preamp for active speakers, but the Magni 2 Uber (which I also owned) can. However, it's $149 and I can't think of a reason for you to buy it instead of the SYS in this context.

Just to be clear, power amps are speaker amps without volume control and integrated amps are speaker amps with volume control.

None of the Magni amps are speaker amps. You'd still need to decide on a speaker amp if you go with passive speakers.

Have you decided on a DAC?

^ From Music Alchemist's previous post, definitely multibit. The multibit sound just suits speakers so dang well. It puts as smile on your face all the time. To put it on a context, it sounds more like how live music should sound rather than recorded music that is played on an iPhone or internal sound card.

Nice :)

So the last question for me its active monitors and what to choose . I like what you have and what Alchemist have, but still continue reading reviews and searching more :>

Do you have any pro-audio brick and mortar stores near you? That would be the best way to tell rather than looking for reviews.
