I've got a pair of Yamaha HS7 active monitors coming in the mail, but I'm still a little lost on how to hook them up to my PC. I've tried shopping around for a cheap DAC that'd have TRS or XLR outputs but haven't settled on which one to buy yet. My main criteria are price (I'd prefer to keep it at 100€ or under), simplicity (trying to get rid of extra clutter on my desk) and an analog volume control. I'll just be listening to music so recording/mixing capability isn't needed.
Currently the computer I'm hooking the HS7's up to has Sennheiser HD600's connected through a HRT Music Streamer III and a Little Dot III tube amp (which does have RCA outputs for preamp use).
Any recommendations on a DAC that'd fill my needs? Or would the Little Dot serve as both a headphone amp and a preamp for the HS7's so I could just go grab some RCA -> TRS cables and be done with it? Would the tube amp shape the sound too much? If a separate DAC is the best way to go, it'd have to be available in Europe, so keep that in mind.
Thanks!
