Hi!

Was wondering what people had for their source chains, especially for those that have speakers integrated into their setups. Currently I have my an AVR, running eARC through my monitor (a TV) that has my speakers and my turntable connected to it, and a dac/amp for my speakers. Was originally looking at a Schiit Ragnorak to consolidate a lot of it together but seems I sat on it too long.

Would also appreciate any insight on pre-amp owners and why they choose to run one.

Thanks for looking!

Yes, it makes sense to me.
I use the Denon 800NE in the 2-channel range and that's enough for me.
I've connected it optically to the TV and it's perfectly adequate.
The internal Dac is certainly not the best for audiophiles, but I have to say it's pretty good for the TV.
It delivers a much better sound than what comes out of the TV, logically enough.
When there's music in the film, you can also hear that it comes to the fore.
Speech is easier to understand, everything has a nice bite and meaningful sound.
Less tiring to listen to in general and more relaxed in the film.
It doesn't have to cost a lot for a good, proper setup.
Some vintage devices are even better if the price is right compared to modern amplifiers.
In terms of Dac I would say it depends on the room, a large room needs a little more precision where I would say ESS Sabre chips are very suitable.
