Hello,

I need some help in choosing a sound card. I am looking to transfer some of my vinyl into CD's for portability. I want to get the best possible sound from the transfer. Here is a list of products that I am considering

Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro or X-Fi Platinum
M-Audio Audiophile 192 and or the Audiophile USB
Lynx L22

Only requirement, I would like to be able to hook up my regular computer speakers in some way to the sound card.

I am not an expert in vinyl transfers, but I figure to run the turntable directly into the sound card via RCA cables (I can also run the turntable into my receiver and then to the sound card). From the sound card I would then use the audio outputs and run them into my Emmeline 2 Raptor, and use my Grado HP-1's to monitor the sound.

Any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks,

If you use the E-MU 1820M (Creative's Pro Audio line) it will have phono inputs.

The E-MU line sounds damn good too.

the 1212m smokes the Audiophile USB. From what I've heard, the E-MUs are also better than the X-Fi line but I haven't heard the X-Fi line so I can't support that.

You need to have RIAA pre-amp for the turnanle before connecting it to sound card --> you already have one on your Hi-Fi system so it's recommended to connect your normal Hi-Fi setup to the sound card (if you get a card with RIAA pre-amp in-build, then you can connect the turnable directly into card's inputs (which contains the RIAA pre-amp).
