I checked out the manual for the Sony MZ-E501 player, which is available @ SonyDrive (www.sony.co.jp/sd/). The E501 manual says that if you have a MD unit that does titling, you can create groups yourself.
And then it goes on to say, please see a separate insert as for how to do that on your titling MD unit. That insert is not available online.
Scanning through the same manual again, it says that, and I quote Sony:
If you play a 'grouped' disc on a unit that doesn't support group settings, the following text may appear in the display (Japanese section)
"If group mode is off and you try to play a disc that has group settings, the following text string may appear in the display" (English section).
0;Favorites//1-5;Rock//6-9;Pops//...
which is a disc on which
(a) disc title = Favorites
(b) group 1 = tracks 1-5, named "Rock"
(c) group 2 = tracks 6-9, named "Pops".
So if someone has a group-capable player, you can try that text string in the disc title field, and see what happens.
