I recently bought an open box Sony cd/dvd player at Best Buy for +/- $20 and I am very, very impressed with it. As a transport it is excellent, doing as good (if not better) than my Cambridge Audio c550 azur. It doesn’t have a display, and to get full functionality it is advisable to hook a monitor to it. It plays mp3 cds/dvds but won’t decode over 48 kHz sampling rate in the dvd realm. I have no issues with the internal DAC but it does have coax digital out. Really for 20-30 dollars you can’t go wrong. Long live CD!
