SonicStage software sucks! Please help me!

OMG, i HATE Sony's software that i HAVE to use if i want to listen to MP3's (but really they're converted to the Atrac3 crap). is there ANY alternative i can use instead of this bloated thing that loves to crash? can i just burn a CD with a bunch of MP3's on it and have the player play it? i would test it out now, but i dont have the player with me.

also, i HATE the fact that this player is SO QUIET!! it bairly has any power behind it. is there anything i can do (besides an amp) to make this thing get louder? unfortunately, i cant find the manual right now, and the player is at school. hoperfully this information isnt too important, though i'm sure it is

Reading from your post you have a Sony CD player and are from Europe. Correct?

In that case you can burn mp3's using any program you want (or no program at all if using xp) and you cannot get this thing any louder since the it volume capped. The situation might be helped by getting some Sony EX71 earphones which isolate all the noise and might sound louder.
