Well something curious has happened to me with my e5.

Volume works fine, bass boost works fine (although seems weaker then it used to be), etc.

However I have encountered a strange oddity when it comes to the bass boost/gain switch.

If I move the switch in the middle somewhat the feature is the same as the gain boost (no added bass), however the volume gets a good deal louder then when set all the way to the left or the right. Is this normal? Does it mean it's broken? It still sounds louder then normal straight to the fuze output but in the middle it's a good four clicks or so louder and about 7 or 8 clicks louder then with the fuze straight out.

So is it broken? Thanks for the comments.

There is already a thread discussing this, I dont think anyone from fiio posted to tell us the secret behind how this works so all we have is a bit of speculation.

It's hard to say. I'd rate the volume boost at about 7 clicks on the rocker. You'd have to do some volume-matched testing to see for yourself.

I think the switch under the "middle" setting is anywhere between 0 and 1/2 of what the bass boost switch gives you.

What I'd like to know is if having the switch in the middle is safe. Having it in the middle is like I'm shorting two outputs into one, or something. I wonder what effect it has on the battery.

Well i'm kinda worried that dropping it kind of ruined the bass boost volume of it a little bit then.

Oh well, later on i'll be getting a re2+fiio e5 combo anyways so.
