I travel often and while I'm not an audiophile, I do have some experience with these types of equipments:
-pioneer sb22
-shure se300 (i think it was)
-ultimate ears some dual driver in-ear earphones
-ath-m50x.

now all of these products have served me well but I'm looking for something that I will be happy with for at least 5 years now.

I would like good isolation, good looks, good build quality and better sound than the ath-m50x, which sounded pretty good although a little bass heavy.

What do you recommend?

mostly just my iPhone.

DAC is possible (if I buy one) and I do have a FLAC playing mp3 player (kowon or something) but I'm not truly an audiophile so I don't know if I would ever do that.

For on the go use without an amp, I recommend the NAD VISO HP50, PSB M4U 1, Focal Spirit Pro or Sony MDR 7520.  These are listed in order from warm to dead neutral (I call it a tie in that regard between the FS and Sony).  See:

and

If you want more bass than a warm headphone offers, there are others who can help you with that type of sound signature(s).

Looks are almost entirely subject (and not important to me)--so you'll have to decide about that.
