I recently received two Utah® Celesta™ speaker cabinets of uncertain model number, loaded with C12PC-3B cast-frame coaxials (each incorporating a 12" woofer and 3" metal-mesh-guarded cone tweeter).  The cabinets themselves are stout, with a 1.5 cu. ft. woofer chamber and 0.375 sq. ft. front vent; the design is so well worked out, in fact, that I can retrofit a 6" x 16" bi-radial horn for a 1"-throated compression driver in the top of each cab (the cavity is 14-1/2" W x 4-1/2" H for the depth of the cab).  However, a test run on my Asus® CM1630-06 as upgraded through a Pyle® PCA2 amplifier demonstrated that the C12PC-3B's have seen better days, the woofer coils bottoming out at a fraction of their original 45 W power rating.  Searches of ebaY® and Craigslist® San Francisco Bay turned up empty for re-cones for the C12PC line, so it appears that I will have to replace the C12PC's with upgrade woofers and, while I'm at it, spring for the horns plus appropriate compression drivers and crossovers.

From a check of the Pro Audio Woofers and Midwoofers at Parts Express®, several transducers recommended for vented boxes of 1.0 to 2.0 cu. ft. (inclusive) are available, four of which I found close to optimum:  the faiPRO® 12PR300, Celestion® TF1225E, B & C Speakers® 12NDL88, and Tymphany® FSL-1225R02-08.  All of the above have considerably better RMS power capacity than the C12PC, and at least one has some reserve Xmax through a bumped back plate on the motor.  Does anyone have experience with one of these four candidates in a 1.5 cu. ft. vented box consistent with my Celestas; or, if not, recommend an alternate make and model woofer for the 1.5 cu. ft. box with 1.375 sq. ft. vent?

There are specialists out there who will repair / re-cone virtually any classic driver. It may be best to stick to whatever driver was originally intended to go into these cabinets...

I HAVE A WINNER: Based on direct comparison of Xmax, the B&C Speakers® 12NDL88 (Net $237.99 at Parts Express as of October 2017) gets the selection. Recommended Vbox = 0.04 m⁳ is in line with the Celesta's original enclosure; plus the 88mm voice coil will handle all the power available from one channel of a Gemini® X-2001 (1000W max power draw; prob. 400 W RMS @ 8Ω per channel).

Now I must find the tweeter driver and the horn....
