Sigur Ros - ( )

I agree. () is my favorite too. The new one definately has good tracks. It's just taking me more time to warm up to it.

My friend with great tastse in music (IMHO) much prefered Agaetis Byrjun. I guess it just depends who you are, but I think there's something to like in all of their albums.

I think it's insane how they've started selling their CD's everywhere. Hardly anyone had heard of them not to long ago. It's always good to see a non pop artist doing well, however.

After listening (exclusively) to Radiohead for about 10 years now, I'm starting to think that...at this moment...they might not be the greatest thing out there.

On the other hand...just as RH were 10 years ago, Sigur Ros music is VERY VERY demanding on the quality of the recording and reproduction setup.

Portland on Mon, pre-arranged Boston on Tue. Can't wait!

You've only listened to one band for the last 10 years? Talk about being stuck on a desert island! Hope you have all their albums

I've always been most partial to Ágætis Byrjun, but that was my first one. Actually, my first one was the Ný Batterí single in 2000 because that's all I could get at the time in the US until the full CD was finally released here. But the single was worth it because it has some very cool extras including the full version of that great song with 5 minutes of the extended brass section intro that you only catch the tail end of on the album version.

Sigur Ros have been fairly well-known since they toured with Radiohead in 2001 (I think, could've been 2000). Everything except their first album (Von) had pretty wide US distribution, even Von got a US re-release (which *^$£ed me off since it made my Icelandic import copy much less valuable :>).

It depends on your perspective of things. If you're in Iceland, you know Sigur Ros and may even have had enough of them by now. In Iceland, they are gods! They possess the best-selling album in Iceland, and their touring/production values are as high as that of a Britney Spears show would be - they're a real money-making force! They're not making that cash from the States, you know. Sigur Ros is probably The Beatles of Iceland!

Well... no. Most people here don't like their music, and they only started to sell here when they had gained some popularity abroad so the posers like them. There are so many great bands here that they have to fight for their spot.

Yeah I know, he must be talking about before Ágætis Byrjun, because that album sat atop the Iceland album charts for many weeks in 1999 and wasn't even available abroad at that time. But who knows?
