ok got my e2c's. definetly an improvement over my ex51's

of course ive found the hard silicon tips uncomfortable, though i luv the foam tips. but of course, the foam tips are bloody expensive to replace and i did enjoy the soft silicon tips of the ex51's.

i seen brohkens mod, but i would rather spend the extra bit and get the soft flex tips offered by shure. now what i want to know is:

- do the shure soft flex tips affect sound quality?
- do the shure soft flex tips isolate as good as the foam tips?
- are the sizes the same between the ex51's tips and the shure soft flex tips? (i used medium tips in both ears when i had the ex51)

Cheers

Hey Flagger, good questions. I've had the soft flex sleeves for about 5 months now and I love them. Most people will say that the foam sleeves sound the best, but the soft flex sleeves sound great to me. FAR more comfertable than the silicone sleeves that are included. Spending the extra money is worth it. Isolation is still very good, I'm in college and my hall-mates keep getting mad at me 'cause I can never hear them calling me when they come in my room, lol. But I would definitely go with the soft flex sleeves...they made me like my e2c's a whole lot more. Hope this helps!

Forgot to answer your last question. I'm not sure about the sizings, but I've tried a friends sony's and I'm pretty sure they had mediums and I feel that the mediums on my shures acutally fit more precisely than the sonys, but of course this is just my opinion. Maybe someone else will be able to help you a little more on this question.

I'm interested in sizing, too. I used to use the small Sony flex tips that came with the EX71's and I was wondering if Shure's soft flex tips are comparable in size to Sony's? Thank godness Shure is now making these soft flex tips. I just discovered them myself. Those clear ones are murder. Back in the days when you had to do "Sony Mod" I used to put the Sony tips on the Shure E2s, that was the best thing since sliced bread. But getting the Sony tips was a hassle.

i really do like the foam tips though, but i can already see the hassle of having to roll em to fit them correctly.

ok, got the medium size soft flex tips and they work well. medium tips are slightly bigger than the medium tips of the ex71's, which is a good thing for me. im getting the same amount of bass as the foams and its way less of a hassle to insert. isolation...is about the same as the foams provided u can stick the silicon all the way in. all up i get little investment to make the e2c a bit more manageable.

your observations are pretty much on the same line as mine. Only the soft flex tips were comfy enough to not bug me and distract me from music. Unfortunately, I lost one of my small sized softies and had to replace them with medium sized ones. Medium ones are ok and better than anything else I had, but I remember preferring the smaller ones.
