I'm planning to get a great pair of headphones over the summer and use them mostly for gaming (MW3).  Until then will the pc370 come out or should I be a man and buy the hd598?  I'm also considering the Tritton Warhead but I doubt it can even compete with a good pair of headphones lolz.

I have to ask where do you see (I assume you're talking about a Sennheiser PC 370 headset) coming out?  I googled and don't see any information on this, but if it's true...I'd be interested to see what they have planned for them that would top the 360's.

The PC360 hasn't been out for THAT long, and it took ages for Sennheiser to release them after the PC350. You may have to wait a considerable while before anything like a PC370 comes out. You may wanna refrain from making up a headphone that hasn't been announced by Sennheiser.

Op, are you upgrading? or this is your first real set for gaming?

How much is the HD598 going for? IF it's in the same price range as the Q701, I'd say that the Q701 is a better choice, assuming you're not attaching a mic to it.

Are you mainly considering the headset for the boom mic?  I've been using the Antlion ModMic with HD555s and Ultrasone DJ1s and I love it.  Should work with just about any headphone and my friends that I play with say I sound quite clear on vent and mumble: http://www.modmic.com/  Actually with the 555s I found I didn't need to attach the little base to them because the mic sticks well enough to the steel grills without it.  That way you can use whatever headphones you find work well for you without worrying about whether there's a version that comes with a built in mic.

I honestly don't think they'll ever announce a PC370. Guess if you wanted that, just buy an HD800 and throw a mic on it!

Q701's will most definitely need an amp, while the HD598 does just fine without one. But too bad the HD598's price defaulted back to MSRP...

I saw a couple of sites offering the PC370's...but they had no pic of it, i and the site reputation was questionable...probably fakes.

So the Q701 would be a better choice than the hd598 in term of sound qquality?  And would it be better for games like MW3?

The Q701 is a better headphone, but not leaps and bounds better.

What people need to understand is that game audio isn't ever going to take full advantage of ANY good headphone. A great headphone with good positional cues won't be better than another. One doesn't just magically make things better. Just choose one.
