I am re-ripping all my music for better sound and I will probably need a larger data space then 4gig's.

My gear is going to be

Ipod (you choose) > turbo dock2 > cardas mini > RSA Hornet or Sr-71 > Sensaphonics custom iem's > My ears

I care about space cause I wamt the best quality, which is 192 aac? or higher?

is it a worth while upgrade from the mini to the new 60gb ipod?

cheapest place to buy?

thank you

If you really want a step up in quality, go for lossless.

I ended up buying an iRiver iHP-120 so I can use FLAC files on it. It has line out and optical digital output, so I will end up using it with a portable headphone amp.

The iRiver may not be as small as thin as the new iPods, but I can drag and drop files, and have a larger choice of codecs.

I say get a 60GB 5G and rip to lossless. Rockbox is working on an iPod port which should allow the iPod to play FLAC, MPC, MP3, WMA etc. Once you get the iPod make sure you use Sharepod.

Just my 2 cents.

If Rockbox succeeds, I might just jump ship back to iPods.

But looks like it will be a long time before they have anything final. And even longer with the 5G.

Till then, I will have the brick known as the iRiver.

It may be a while but I am a patient man. For those who are impatient, there is always iPod linux. You can play quite a few codecs with that.
