I’d like to find an audiophile quality short (1M) extension cable (3.5mm) for my bedside DAC/amp. I found one at Amazon but wire diameter is much smaller than my HP cable and its quality is questionable. Coiled would be a plus…

You could contact ZMF or other custom cable manufacturers, I'm sure someone would be happy to make you such a cable. It'll likely cost $$$, of course.

Contact moonaudio, their Silver and Black Dragon cables are sweet, I made a couple of extensions (1 bal, 1 se) from their bulk cable and also bought the connectors from them for the SE cable. For the balanced, I used some Neutrik silver plated jobbies. Not hard to make at all, if you have a little soldering experience. But I'll bet they can whip one up for you, great quality for the money.
