shielded vs unshielded XLR input jack - when should I use 1 over the other?

as above. The jacks will be used to connect a fully-differential/balanced preamp to an amp.

I searched the net but can't find the answer. Thank you.

not enough difference to worry about.
Remember to connect pin #1 to the metal chassis at the connector.

although the metal ones will connect the cable connector shell to the chassis (so added shielding).

Based on experience in various home envs with lots of RFI - I found RCA cable varied quite a bit - so it's sensitive to shielding and even on the floor vs suspended in air, close to walls, etc.

But XLR? No. Either way (shielded or not) and with generic vs pricey stuff it seems to be the same.
