I really hope these IEMs get my personal tuning. I’m sure they’ll do fine on technicalities. I just want an IEM that is neutral except the bass (esp the sub-bass) is elevated

Luckily, we are serving audiophiles, where this is standard as far as memory serves.
LOL. It'd be great to lock the thread now and end on that note...

I've inspected the pictures a little more and either these are really small, or they have huge nozzles. It looks like a classier, sleeker tfz s5... I like it.

Am very happy to hear that you took the right steps regarding the MMCX connectors. Nowadays I prefer a 2-pin connector but I have no problem with a proper MMCX.

While I also like 2 pin(and always choose customs with it), it has its own problems, like you can get pins slightly out of specs and pretty much ruin your connectors. For normal user, MMCX is much more user friendly.

well I prefer mmcx cuz for one, they feel slightly more durable (those 2-pin always make me feel like they are going to break any moment) and two, all of my cables are mmcx!

Great to see IEMs from you, will definitely be checking out the 500s.

Are they going to be a metal case for the 500? Really slick case design as well.

Best of luck with it, but I suspect these will be a great seller!

everybody in marine and aviation business will be surprised....
Everyone in the audio business would be surprised when you would apply the nautical system. I mean we also don’t call it the port and starboard earpiece. :)

I would respectfully disagree. In my experience, two pin has much longer life in them - that’s why most ciem companies for musicians on stage use them. They are tools, last heavy abuse and are more durable, with a stable connection. I am not saying MMCX is bad - but I prefer two pin or 4pin connections. However the newer MMCX connectors are tighter and more durable.

4 pin iems are rare to be honest (the only one i know of using them are jh audio) and they seriously durable, i have tried and tested them. As for 2-pin, well lets just say that after i bent a few of them (mostly after keeping them in my bag xD) i lost hope on them.

Body of 500 will be from highly polished copper.

Ohhhh, polished brass. That's probably going to look pretty awesome.
And it'll be antimicrobial! Which is awesome if you're OCD!

Also, 2 pin is only durable if done well, just like mmcx. I prefer mmcx myself, I think generally you put more strain on the 2 pin system when making adjustments. If you switch cables A LOT the 2 pin might be better since it's done a lot more gently, but if you don't, and do a lot adjusting like me, a good mmcx is perfect. Plus yes, a majority of my cables are mmcx.

Little bit more info on ME100 for you:

ME100.jpg

Body is CNC machined aluminium, with tempered glass on the top, to make it nice pair with our players

Weight of single monitor is 5 g. Pair of monitors, with eartips and cable, weight in total just 28 g.

Ergonomically shaped and of course made for cable to go over-ears.

It was long way to get to the this great dynamic driver. And even longer until we tuned everything with two vents.
Tuning was done both in factory, with our horde of experienced audiophile employees, and with few testing groups in China. Almost final version was then presented at Canjam London and we couldn't be happier with reactions we got.

One note, drivers in ME100 and ME500 shares lot of similarities, but due to their different roles, we needed to do some changes. So for example driver in ME100 has CCAW voice coil, which helps with mids and highs, while OFC voice coil in ME500 is more suited for it's role as bas-mid driver.

Now, we are getting to the cable. Actually part where I was most involved, because I quite dislike most cables on the market, always searching for better comfort and usability, so this gave me chance to make something more to my liking.

Cable has 8 wires, it's pure copper, 5N OFC. Unfortunately no fancy bright orange, just stealthy black .
All parts are from aluminium, we tried to go with something good looking, but also subtle.
For more secure fit over the ears, we went with flexible pre-shaped PVC tubing at the end of the cable. We believe it's much more comfortable solution than industry standard with annoying metal wire, that needs never-ending reshaping.
Important thing was easy usability, because nothing is worse than good looking cable parts that are too sleek to hold and pull. So at MMCX connectors we have small "ridges" and both Y-split and jack are shaped for proper grip.
We of course has tight fitting chin slider.

Final cable is not for audiophiles that love their fancy looking, stiff and heavy cables. But we are much more happy with our really light, flexible and truly practical cable.

Later you will be able to buy separately "premium" version, 6N OCC silver plated copper, with 2.5 mm jack. Thicker, little less flexible, but with the same high-quality cable elements.
