Huh, so exposed driver like people do with the HD 6x0 series. Also I think this is being marketed as an improved HD 599SE. Similar to HD 600 to HD 660s2.

Looks like a warmer HD 599SE based on the marketing talk and curves…could be a warm boi

^It looks like the opposite to me.

The HD599 is decisively warmer than the HD560S, and this new HD505 is a more analytical listen aka brighter….which makes perfectly good sense seeing as there is no foam between drivers and ears.
I’m fairly intruiged but at the same time also a little wary. I’m not sure I need a more analytical HD560S🤔

Edith:
This is from Sennheiser’s post in the announcement forum:
‘Those familiar with the HD 560S will find some tonal similarities here, but with a smoother top end that should appease longer listening with less fatigue. For those unfamiliar with that tuning, it is quite neutral and analytical.’
Now I’m confused🤪😂

A warmer 599? Sounds exciting…

I didn’t see the image, but that makes sense now. It looks like they boosted the bass response on the graph, but their wording says otherwise so we’ll have to hear some reviews :/

Editing the first post to show that Amazon US has them listed at $279, not $249. Not sure if there's an error on the press release or the Amazon listing.

More expensive than I expected tbh, but definitely interested to see how it performs. At the bare minimum it looks great with the copper accents.

I like the 560S, but it's aggressive for longer sessions, it kind of beats you up. If this can resolve that problem then so be it. My answer might just be the 490 pro either way.
I've never had that issue with 560s, but I do have issues with the build and comfort. I remember posting at the time that if it had the leather wrapped headband of the hd599 it would be borderline perfect for me. Seems like this could be an answer.

I really liked everything about the 490 pro except for the hot treble. If this sounds basically like that but with a cooler top end, then I’m interested!
