Hey guys, this is my first post here, but not my first time in the "audiophile world".

Just to give a quick background, I have been using to mix music (primarily drum tracks for clients with starting to get into some full band arrangement projects) some Grado SR80's through a Steinberg UR44 interface, and it's been working ok, enough to get by. 2 weeks back, my Grado's decided to break (the cord pinched) so I thought I might as well invest in a new audio system for mixing. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Music Production, Technical Director at a church, and have been a professional drummer/percussionist for the last 4-5 years playing various shows monthly.

I definitely have an ok pair of monitors to use, but I like headphones as I have a properly treated room and headphones are more convenient at this time (and I have a plethora of different sound sources to test my mixes on). I'm going to be getting my self Senny's HD 600's. They should serve me very well for what I'm looking for. But onto the main reason for this post.

I was pretty well set on the Schiit Stack 2 (the Modi 2 and Magni 2 Uber) as it'll be a step up from what I have and I can leave the Steinberg in my tracking room for quicker set-up, and it will not completely break my bank. I then got onto MassDrop and saw they have the DarkVoice 336SE OTL for 200 bucks for the next 4 days. That's an amazing deal on that, and I would still probably get the Modi 2 for the DAC. My question, is it worth the extra 50 bucks to get the 336SE, or will I be better off sticking with the stack? I know that the 336SE is a tube amp and may add more coloration, but if it's a better amp than the Magni 2, then I would fork out the extra 50 bucks for it. Appreciate all the help, and open to other options under $300 US.

For headphones for audio creation/production/mixing.
Get the Sony MDR-V6 or MDR-7506 headphones.
Plug them directly into your Steinberg UR44.

For all other audio, watching movies or music enjoyment or other.
Get the Darkvoice 336SE and plug it into the Steinberg.
Get the HD600 and plug then into the 336SE.

I'll definitely check out the Sony's. But I'll still probably buy a DAC at least is for the convenience of keeping my Steinberg in my drum room with everything plugged in (except ribbons) just so I can plug in my laptop or tablet and get to recording. Just will save time and if I ever just want to go and mess around, it'll be a lot easier.

*Edit
But if I did go the route of using my Steinberg as my DAC and just move it back and forth (which I would be ok, wouldn't be as convenient but it won't kill me), I would need 1/4" to RCA. Is that ok to do, or is it best to not to use adapter cords like that and would I then be better off buying a DAC?
