I wanted to hear from anyone who has compared the Schiit Jotunheim 2 with the Topping A70 Pro, how they differ in sound. I have seen various Schiit and Topping amp comparisons, but not really these two units.
Looking for general impressions on the sonic character of these units. My more specific needs are described below, if anyone wants to comments around that.
I have been looking for a headphone amp to use with guitar amp modelers and DAWs. So looking at primarily monitoring or mixing use, more than music pleasure listening. Main preference is a unit with neutral EQ. Second preference is a unit with larger soundstage.
I use the Sennheiser HD 800S as headphones, which I like for its space. Especially with guitar amp modelers, it feels less like the guitar amp is right inside your head, and more in the room with you. I would enjoy getting a headphone amp that was also good with space. The HD 800S can be a little bright on the top end.
For my budget, the Jot2 looked good in being able to add a DAC module in the unit for additional versitility. The A70 Pro looked good becuase it accepts TRS inputs, which helps solve some cable issues with my modelers.
