I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of Beyer DT 990 Premium 600 ohm for a discounted price. As excited as I am to receive them, I'm partially concerned about my ability to drive them properly or adequately. I currently have a Sound Blaster Z sound card which I know isn't the greatest, but hey, its all I got.
I was wondering what would be the correct step in being able to get the fullest out of my headphones. Would that be going out and buying an amp or a DAC? My budget as of right now is pretty low, maybe around $100. I was thinking about purchasing an amp but was unsure if that would work in conjunction with my sound card. If that is the correct step, I do have a couple of amps that I have in mind as I've been doing a little reading on them.
