RSA XP-7/AKG 701 combo

Guys, will the XP-7 do the AKG 701's justice or should I look for something else like the DT880? While the XP-7 with the LT1028 opamp is something special AFAIC, the finicky nature of the 701's is making me hesitant to pick up a pair. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
