Is it just me or is Ray on a roll? Congrats! I'd love to hear that thing when it's nice and quiet someday!

You can stop by my place in SF for a listen on your trip to pick up your cans from 1911!

I haven't even installed the XR-10B (don't tell Sleestack!) but I am planning to get it going this weekend. I promise to be real quiet when you come over.

I haven't read the article, but the TAS website blurb is this:

Absolute Analog: Ray Samuels Audio Emmeline XR-10B Phono Preamp, Shelter 90X and Micromagic Magic Diamond Cartridges Wayne Garcia reports on an excellent and versatile phono preamp and two great — and very different — cartridges.

I was wondering who picked up the Sleestack's XR-10B. You lucky dog. I had a few opportunities to hear one with tt's at different extremes, HR-X and mmf-5 and it allowed both to sing. My friend Oz (I've posted about this in another thread) thought Ray's stuff at CES was up at the top, of course paired with the other excellent gear in the room.

It's no secret that I like Ray's gear. I certainly have enough of it. I also consider him a friend and I'm very happy for him.

Thanks Mike, I feel like a lucky dog.

I'm glad to hear that you heard good things from a TT at the lower end of the spectrum. I heard the XR-10B on Slee's SuperScoutmaster but I have not yet heard it on my own Dual 505. I will definitely be getting a new table one of these days, but hopefully I will get to enjoy the old one with new insight. Ideally, I will have a couple of different tables hooked up the the XR-10B at the same time. Such a nice capability--on top of the balanced and single-ended outputs being active at the same time. Nice.

I finally read the article today. This was an excellent review:

"Combine its sonic attributes with first-rate parts, fine build-quality, and a rare set of input, output, and control features, and you get one of today's most compelling pieces of LP playback equipment."

Nice job Ray!

To top it all off, his name is listed on the cover.

That must have been awesome with the VPI!

What TT was used for the mag review? I'll have to check that issue out at B&N!

Indeed, Brother Buttons, Master Ray is on a conspicuous winning streak. It always gives me a vicarious thimp to see compulsive perfectionism appreciated by the world at extra large.

A Redpoint Model B tt was used for the review. I've heard the XR-10B with a VPI HR-X and it was magic.

I have no affiliation with Ray Samuels. But I do respect his work and the quality of his work.

Now on with the topic,
For those that have not noticed, Ray Samuels is mentioned in the March issue of absolute sound. Not only is he mentioned he has garnered a postive review.

I was strolling through Tower records to get my fill of audio periodicals abosolute sound, stereophile and hi-fi choice. I like looking at the pictures and living vicariously through reviews at $$$$$$ audio components that resemble modern art with the price tags to match works of modern art.

Anyhow, Ray Samuels made it into Absolute Sound.

Congratulations. Its great to see one of head fi's own make it in such a large publication.

Kudos to you Ray.

Cheers.
