I have a pair of Ath-w1000s and I have been wondering if I risk damaging them if I used them for gaming? I haven't ever tried, hence why I am sounding this out. I have no real desire to but would like to know if I ever did I would not be damaging them in any way.

At moderate listening levels there is no reason not to use ANY headphone for gaming or movies etc.
If headphones (and ears

) can survive the likes of 'bassy' extremes like dubstep, there is no reason they won't survive gaming.

You're only doing damage to the drivers if you can hear distortion/crackling (at high/very high volumes) - although your ears will probably hurt before you can hear any.
