[RESOLVED] Problems with Penon L19 cable and Fiio E17k

OK, after poking around a little I've realized it's probably just a counterfeit. Ugh. My fault for not researching.

So I guess my question now is: does anyone have a legit version of this cable and if so, where did you get it?

That cable? That definitely doesn't connect via a Lightning port.

The only way I can think of is the camera kit (lightning to 30 pin) and the L3 or L9 (which don't seem to be in stock anywhere)

No actually, that's the odd thing-- Fiio makes that aux cable called the L19 but this is a different thing meant for Fiio headphone amps (and apparently works with other brands too).

I saw a YouTube video of someone using it successfully with a Chord Mojo which makes me think I might have a counterfeit. In that video the iPhone shows a prompt once it's plugged in about detecting an external device and I don't see that prompt.
