I've been enjoying my Chord Mojo, but use it mostly for my desktop headphones. I don't take it while travelling as I have issues with battery life so just use my earbuds. The Mojo has started cutting out, much like it woudl do if it ran out of battery, but it did this time when it was plugged in the mains.

I love the Chord "sound", so is there a Chord product which I can use with a direct optical feed from my computer sound card?

Leave behind batteries, and use a E1da 9038s directly via USB to your pc (or even phone).

It can drive headphones as loud as the Mojo and has a modern dac chip. And has a output impedence of less than one; so it works with all iems or headphones.

Though I have no idea what Mojo sound is. Does it color things warm? The 9038s is considered uncolored/cold.

If 9038s is cold and uncolored then I think it is quite different from Chord Mojo. I think you can consider Hugo (a very direct upgrade from your Mojo) or even AudioQuest DragonFly Cobalt. Cobalt will be more like a replacement rather than upgrade perhaps.
