Dear all,

I've been a happy owner of a pair of Technics RP-DJ1210 for more than 10 years now, but lately they're having some problems with the sound in one of the drivers so I decided it was time for a change (I could try to repair it, and I will, but change is also good!). I thought it would be a good idea to ask for advice, since I am pretty lost and I don't know where to start. I'll try to give some context and usage to see if this can help with recommendations.

First, me: I'm not an audiophile, but I am pickier than the average person (not the average forum member though) on how things sound: I don't tolerate bad headphones anymore! I like the RP-DJ1210 quite a lot sound-wise and I've grown accostumed to them I guess. Similar type of sound (but better, maybe less bass) would be appreciated. I listen to a very wide range of music, from electronic to opera, so they have to be versatile. I even use them for connecting to video conferences!  This means I use a wide range of devices to play music with, from my amplifier home system to my laptop or a portable MP3 player (Cowon D2).

While I bought the Technics for DJing, I don't do that anymore so I don't need the "special features" of DJ headphones. I would like something on-ear or over-ear, reasonably isolating and comfortable for a glasses-wearing person (I use them a lot, at work, to listen to music, movies, even in planes). In fact, my worst problem with the RP-DJ1210 is that they quite uncomfortable for long periods of time, and that's the main reason I am thinking about changing. I don't use them for commuting, though.

Also, I move them around quite a bit (from work to home, even on trips), so portability is a plus! Not required though, if they come with some case I can put in my bag when I move.

Price wise, I'm willing to spend a bit more than what the RP-DJ1210 cost, but I'm flexible as long as the prize is not crazy for a non-audophile. Also, I am in Europe (Switzerland), which may limit my options of testing some of the possible candidates, even ordering them without hefty shipping costs.

So, what are the recommendations? What should I get?

EDIT: I've read through the forums and product reviews here and I've tried to inform myself a bit, but I find myself completely lost with all the audiophile options. I think they are too much and problably won't work with my setup (most of the time I don't use an amp), so I thought it was better to ask.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Albert
