Hello-

I recently bought a 5G iPod along with a Martin Fields screen protector. I'm not that keen on the appearance but see it as more of a temporary solution until more cases come out. I'm not too concerned about scratches on the back, but mostly with the screen since I've recently put about 6 gigs of Arrested Development and Upright Citizens Brigade shows on there.

When I was "squeegeeing" out the air bubbles underneath the screen protector, I inadvertently scraped up the clickwheel quite a bit. I want to restore it to it's original appearance, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I've tried using an eraser and it made a little bit of difference but not much. Since the scratches are ONLY on the clickwheel, I'd like to find a solution that's as simple as inexpensive as possible.

Your thoughts?

No personal experience, but the iPod followers swear by using Brasso to remove surface scratches. Brasso is a metal polish, but apparently it works well as a plastic polish.

Be careful.
The brasso and other polishers are really only good for the plastic or metal backing...if you do this to your clickwheel you'll take off the menu/forward/reverse/play lettering and also probably affect the feel of it.

That's what I'm afraid of, and why I won't use any polishing product without some caution and foresight. A lot of products, even ones specifically made for the iPod like iCleaner, claim to work well on the plastic front and metal back, but don't say much about the click wheel. I like the texture of the clickwheel as it is now and don't want it to have the same smoothness as the rest of the front. And of course it would suck to smudge out the lettering on it.
