well it was my frist bid win on ebay, and my first at being ripped off. the headband was broken (a common problem on old sennheisers) and i got the ususal "damaged in transit" excuse.

my dream come true

i've always wanted a pair of these (call me sad, by all means) and now i've got them. only had them a few hours, but i think it's safe to say that they've already been through the burn-in process.

to be honest they don't sound as good some newer sennheiser models, but for what they are, they offer a surprisingly full sound, a little bit fuller than my HD215 that i also got from ebay, but from a more trusted seller.

i've been listenig to Five star "luxury of life " album (call me even sadder), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Star do you remember them, the british answer to the jaskson's so-to-speak? the sennheisers fair really well, and they offer good bass depth, which surprises me because they hd470's are an open headpohones.

With the Go-Vibe V5

i don't know really, but it does clean the hd470's up very well, but the bass suffers for it. i like my bass depth. but they're struggling to reach earsplitting levels (no lectures please) but that's another personal preference. i can't say whether it's the amp, because of the power i left the amp on al night (rechargeable battery), or whether it's jsut the age of the headphones.

i am falling for these though. i love the sweetness of the HD215 but i'm loving the weight of the HD470's

take away the go-vibe and the fullness comes back, but the crispness doeesn't. so i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, although 'with the go-vibe' would probably get my vote.

so with the hd470's obsolete, then why this quick review?

....because i always wanted a pair, and i've been lazy in reviewing my other recent aquasitions, and i hope this goes a little bit to making up some ground.

with the actual price being around a tenner (£10) delivered, there's little to moan about really, apart from my nasty first ebay experience.

if i had the money, i'd do it again. like i said for a tenner, you can't go wrong with the HD470's. i know that they never really sold that well, or that's the impression i get/got, but they're better than the HD201's i brought for my bro-in-law.

if you're in the market, then i say "why not?" your sure toget some bargains on ebay. but beware and all that!

i hope to get my hands on another pair, a proper clean pair, but please don't tell the trouble and strife. i promised her the Denon AH-D1000 were my last pair

well i've been bitten by the ebay bug and not in a good way. the seller was quite abussive about the negative feedback he got from my damaged headphones.

the headphones, are still sounding great, but i was surprised they cost £65 originally. so for £10 i guess i need to be greatful, even with the dodgy headband.

does anyone know how to replace it? it looks like a pretty invovled job.
