Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and to the idea of appreciating better sound quality equipments.
Today I got my brand new Shure SCL3 ($70 deal), which at first glance when taking it out of its robust plastic box (which took me 10 min), the product looked great. Contrary to my Sony MDR-AS40EX, the cables and phone looked resistant and durable.
Anyways, I was very disappointed after plugging the phone in my iPod and testing it with almost all the ear plugs it came with. I had a completely different idea about this product, I expected it to have a much richer sound. But unfortunately it lacks on bass and focus more on mid.
Also, the impression that I got, sorry if I'm saying something dumb here btw, is that my cheap Sony MDR-AS40EX is not so far behind the SCL3, at least for the kind of music I listen to, which is basically electronic (trance, techno, electro etc) and some rock, which are bass heavy. On the other hand, I tried testing the SCL3 with classical and new age music, and the sound was awesome.
Is the SCL3 comparable to the C700 or the X10? Cause their prices are kinda similar right?
Now idk if I bought the wrong IEM for the kind of music I would listen with it. I'm seriously thinking about getting my money back and buying one of those NuForce NE-7M, since I heard good things about it, especially because it has a good bass.
could u guys help me with this?

Well, it probably would have been a better idea to ask about the SCL3 before buying it but you're right. The SCL3 is not good for your types of music. Shure is known for their sound signature and great mids while generally being neutral or not very big on bass. I'd recommend trying to get your money back and buying something else depending on your budget. Is your budget higher than $70 now?

yeah i had no comparison other then my sony's (and the ones that came with the Ipod). I thought a IEM that normally costs $150 would no doubt be better in any way compared to my sony's.
no my budget is $70... what do u think of the NE-7M?

Well, there are a bunch of factors that determine better. Each company generally has a sound signature that you'll find in each of their models. Sometimes it's a bit different but it's usually the same general sound.

Shure is known for mids
Sennheiser is known for low end
Etymotic is known for crystal clear clarity

etc.

You won't find anything better than the NE-7M's for that price for your genres, most likely. Pick up some Comply's though, T400's.
