I'm looking for some advice regarding audio jack 3.5mm splitters and extensions.
I want to connect 2 different sets of headphones, 1 over-ear and 1 in-ear, to my computer through a splitter since my PC only has 1 jack output. But, I don't want to play audio through both at the same time. I want to be able to switch from inside the Windows audio settings without having to mess with cables, unplug one and plug in the other, etc. Also, for one of them, I might have to use an extension cord, something like 5 meters.
So, my questions are:
1. Is it possible to have 2 headphones connected through a splitter and choose through Windows where the audio goes to?
2. Does a splitter reduce quality if only 1 set of headphones is receiving audio at any time, and if yes by how much?
3. Will a decent extension cord reduce sound quality?
For both the splitter (5$) and the extension cord (7$), I'm looking at the brand Belkin. Will the quality be any good?
Thanks
