I put the HD650 cables on them, and they sound fantastic. But when ever I take the cables out, I have to use considerable force. Is it supposed to be like that? I feel like I'm breaking them.

Why do you have to remove it so often in the first place ?!
It's normal that they fit tightly, just be careful and unplug it with your thumb/index to apply pressure evenly and hold the cups tight.
