Laptops are now getting rid of the microphone jack and phones don't have a microphone jack. It is all being replaced with a TRRS 3.5mm jack. This is a problem because our headphones don't come with an inline microphone.

What we need is a splitter with a 3.5mm TRRS jack that splits into two 3.5mm female sockets. One for your headphones or connects to an amplifier and the other is what you connect your microphone into. This is really useful because it means I can use my Rode Smartlav microphone and my headphones with my phone/laptop at the same time.

There are some products out there that do this but they have been wired wrong and reverse the stereo channels. You hear the left channel in the right ear and vice versa.
