Hi,
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD560s, which I have connected to my PC (no DAC/AMP yet, but I have plans to buy one soon, probably the Fiio K5 Pro). They work perfectly fine most of the time, except that occasionally it stops playing audio completely as if it's on mute, for no reason. This usually happens after I pause a Youtube video. No matter what I do to fix it, the only way to solve this is to unplug and plug it in again, which is a bit tedious.

Any solutions?

Thanks.

This sounds like an issue with the PC, not the headphones. I would disable any audio enhancements (Dolby, Windows Sonic, spatial audio, etc.) and if that doesn't work, uninstall the audio driver, restart, and reinstall... then disable all those enhancements again.

It's also possible your browser is putting the tab to sleep, which can stop audio. You could look at the tab settings under chrome://flags if it's a Chrome based browser.

Exactly what msing539 said.

You can also try another device to be sure

Okay thank you. I have reinstalled the Realtek Driver and disabled audio enhancements. Now it's just a matter of time to see if it continues to be a problem.

I have a friend who had this issue with an HD 579 and an Ifi zen dac. It sounded great on multiple different PCs we listened to it on (no audio failures), but with his own PC the audio would randomly cut out. He tried all of the above things and none of them worked (plus a few Ifi software related things). After a few days, he decided to wipe his computer and hasn't had a problem since with it. Not to say the aforementioned ideas won't work, but just adding a possible backup idea that might work if all else fails (because no one wants to wipe their PC...). Good luck to you with the audio!
