i recently added apple lossless files to my ipod. since then my ipod don't seem to function right. it seems bit laggy and it freezes sometimes so i have to reset it. the wheel also freezes once in a while. have u guys had any problems with ipod when lossless files are involved? or is it just coincidence that my old ipod is finally falling apart (1g nano)? i can convert lossless to mp3 and check myself but that would be too much work so i rather just depend on u experts out there.

yes i have had probs with apple lossless which i find so stupid it being there own codec and player n all its dissapointing. but anyway i had trouble since i bought my touch in september with the lossless format, untill just two days ago when the latest update fixed it all. So try get the latest firmware update and see if that helps first

Sounds like a screwy/dying hard drive that can't buffer the files correctly.

No, I have had no such issues.
My iPod (1G iPod nano) play Apple Lossless files without a single skip or hick-up.

Same as krmathis. I have ALAC playing on the 1G Nano and no hiccups whatsoever. Did you try install Rockbox onto it instead? I run ALAC on Rockbox / Orig Firmware with no issues whatsoever.

On my Classic I didn't have any issues at all with skipping but when I bought the Touch 2 days ago, I noticed that it skipped a lot. Today after installing the update, I haven't noticed any skipping at all.
