The PPA is a circuit board for a high-end headphone amplifier. You can make a stationary amp with it, or you can add a NiMH battery board to get a "transportable" amp. The battery board has an on-board charger which tops the batteries back up when you plug in external power.

The PPA boards are standard Eurocard size, so they fit into cases roughly 4 x 6.3 inches, or larger. A transportable PPA weighs about 2 pounds, not counting the external power supply.

Full details are avaiable at the PPA project site.
