Sorry for, or you are welcome for, my necromancing this thread.

I am looking for power supply advice for: my 5v streamer and a 12v powered USB hub which downconverts to 5V and for my dongles.

I use all of this at home.

From what I have read here the Linear power supplies are the best bet, but the better switching seem pretty good, especially the better iFi models and the sbooster models.
What happens if you take a budget, usually included with device, switching PSU and put a cap and/or ultracap bank inline, after the switching PSU ? There are some cheap one available from Chifi stores on Aliexpress. such as:
