I recently hit 1000 posts, but I remain a 500+ head-fier, instead of moving onto 1000+. Also, how do I become a contributor?

There is not level at 1000 posts. You become Headphoneus Supremus at 1500 posts, that is it.
I do not believe contributing memberships is available anymore, following the forum change.

Jude mentioned contributing not being available at the moment, but a solution being in the works to implement contributions in the new site.

there used to be a "1000+ head-fi'er" level, and I do believe I still see it around

How can we get rid of post count.  Can we ask to have it removed on an individual basis?  If so, I would like mine removed...or reset.

There seems to be a delay--it doesn't appear to change right at the intended mark.  I'll ticket this, but, since it's changing eventually (sometimes several posts past the milestone post), I'm not going to call this one a high-priority fix.
