Sub 50$...

I need some for biking...

Pretty much anything goes as long as they sound good (need bass, and must be clear, defined, and not muffled at all) and are sub 50.

I might not buy them right away, im just looking for options to consider.

Thanks

The Sony EX90LP sounds very similar to the Portapros. Same bass response (and most importanty same weight and extension), the highs are very similar (would be slightly better if it wasn't for the reduced sounstage), the mids aren't perfect (although as not recessed as most cheap canals).

Come to think of it, the EX90's sound signature is much closer to the Portapros than both the HJE50's and CX300 (well most 'phones sound better than the CX300s). I've had no experience with the V-moda Vibes, but most have written that they have much weaker bass (or tighter, or whatever flattering adjective you attribute to weak bass) and you'd probably be disappopinted.

Another canalphone that could be what your looking for are the new Bose IEMs, although they are a little out of your price range. Also the HJE70s, from what I remember (mine broke a long while ago), sounds rather similar (I remember very smooth midrange and puncy bass), but those are import only (and expensive).

The Victor/JVC FX77 are extremely close. I have had both. If I remember correctly the FX77 has a bit more bass but it is more well defined. I got mine from ebay for $40 shipped.

What about Creative EP-630, i read somthing about them being realy good, but i havn't tried them. Theyre in my price range too.

So are marshmallows, but i can only get them for 30$ and thats a waste.

I think they are $38.50 plus $11 shipping from warehouse123.com. I've ordered from them two or three times.

They are $31.99 plus $9 shipping from ebay seller Bommeow. I've ordered from him twice with no problems. Just search FX77 on ebay.

They are coming from Japan either way. They are Victor branded. The lower JVC branded 33 and 55 are the only ones imported. Like Technica, they keep the top level models Japan only even though it was only a $50 earphone when it came out.

Come to think of it, it is a pretty good phone. Not the value the KSC75/35 are but they give the bass of the 35/Portapro and tighten it up like the 75's. I gave the portapros to my bro since I wanted tighter/less congested bass unamped. And I chose the FX55 over the KSC75 since they were quite close plus easier on/off and the isolation benefits. I may pick up another pair since I am sans IEM right now and can only get something cheap till my tax refund comes in.

Hoesntly, i wouldnt go IEM route for biking...just to dangerous (unless of course you trail riding privately). I would go with ear buds and cheap ones...dont want to kill your 200-300$ pair of IEM if you get it snagged on something.

On your list...for biking...i would go with the MX450s. I use the MX500s or my iGrados when i trail ride. On the road its mainly my MX500s.

I never heard those before...but the MX450 are ok set...Great sounding for the price, and not to expensive, so if you break them.

Ebay seller Bommeow is actually Warehouse123, a very reputable online retailer. I just received my HP-FX77 today and even without burn-in they are already far better than the FX33 and FX55! The bass is controlled but very impactful. The highs are currently a bit sharp but I assume they will grow more natural with a bit of burn-in. The most impressive aspect thus far is the sense of depth I have never experienced before in a relatively cheap canal phone. In my opinion, the only reason these are uncommon on head-fi is that they must be imported.

Enjoy.
